I was out at my buddy Alpaca Luke’s a couple years ago helping throw bales in the barn. Masculine stuff. We built a fire and drank a couplefew beverages and across the fire, rotting, was a part burned log of considerable rot.

Of course when I spot a treasure I try to impress upon its owner its many charms. Those ant holes get filled with resin — the whole log! well, pieces anyway! and then mica and CA…. that’s super glue, yes! and anyway you fill the holes and, yes, I’ll have one more and then it’s the road. You mind if I grab that log?

So I cut the log into sections and dry some of them, and then there’s a section so ate up I’m not sure if I want the job that will come of finishing it. Those holes need filling all the way through. But after the wood dried and I was looking for something to stabilize that would really stand apart, I saw that burnt, ant infested rotten apple, and I remembered the treasure, and built REDANTED.

You’ll see the natural weight is heavy, 21.2 oz — but this shaft must NEVER be used for breaking. It’s a torrefied black birch low deflection high english shaft, designed for steady finesse and carbon fiber-like low deflection.

If you want a purple heart break shaft built to match, that’s doable for $450, with another joint protector gifted.
