  • Stick 43 Bloak

    Stick 43 Bloak

Comes with your choice of shaft, made from 1 of 10 species with a 3 inch spalted wormy oak decorative ring, and two spalted wormy oak joint protectors.

    Videos at bottom of page…

BLOAK is finished. Depending on your shaft choice, expect a cue that is 61/62″ and 19 – 23 ounces, depending on shaft and weight bolt. With an oak shaft, figure about 20.5 oz.

    BUTT DIMENSIONS:

    • 16.3 oz. without bolt. Butt is drilled and tapped for up to 1.5 ounces more.
    • 30 7/8″
    • .85 collar

BLOAK comes with your choice of 1 hardwood shaft, made with a fancy ring above of the collar.

Shafts will weight about 3 to 4.5 oz, depending on the density of the wood. Cherry, walnut, sassafras are the lightest. Purple heart, hickory, oak, are the heaviest.

After you win the auction, let me know which species you prefer and I’ll tailor your shaft to your specs: length, tip diameter, and tip. Give me a few days and I’ll have your cue in a FedEx truck on its way to you.

    Choose your shaft species from

    • Maple
    • Birch
    • Ash
    • White Oak
    • Sassafras
    • Hickory
    • Black Locust
    • Purple Heart
    • Cherry
    • Walnut

Add a second shaft for $200.

Tips: (five to choose from or you can send me one.)

    • Blue Knight — Soft (Hardness Rating 61),
    • Elkmaster — Medium (Hardness Rating 66), Royal Oak
    • Medium (Hardness Rating 66), Le Pro
    • Hard: (Hardness Rating 78),
    • Triangle — Hard (Hardness Rating 91)

BLOAK has a hickory-tenoned-into-hard-maple core; that’s why I know the hit is going to be unworldly. You could drive nails with a piece of hickory. Add the stabilized wood and you get a magical connection with the cue ball.

BLOAK has hung 6 months in the shop, being turned down to final size over time, to reduce the likelihood of future warping.

    2 Week returns; Lifetime warranty.

When I take unfinished sticks to the local tournaments, BLOAK is always the one that grabs the most eyes.

I always envisioned Decimation as a scrappy SOB of a cue. The kind that would look as tough getting chemo as he does on a Harley.

The kind that fights game, if you remember how men used to talk in reverential tones about men that never lost their spirit, even if they lost the fight.

The kind that understands winning means keeping your soul, not someone else’s esteem.

Three things I dig about this cue:
    1. Ironwood burl on the buttmost end — stunning.
    2. There are a few instances of live edge where the wood finish is dimpled and the rough outer texture of the Ironwood is retained.
    3. The long split up the middle piece was stabilized and the piece was cored with no problem. That’s because stabilized wood replaces the missing stuff with resin. The split area was solid resin that I chiseled out to add black mica to bring out the split grain. I dig the split so I wanted it to be seen. Our scars remind us of victory or wisdom, one.
Is the cue strong? I cored the split section with a 5/8″ chisel while it was only 7/8″ diameter, and that’s wrapped around a hickory core.
    Hell yeah it’s strong.

Prepare to meet a Game Somebody.

  • Stick 41 What She's Having

    Stick 41 What She’s Having

This auction is for a butt, shaft and two joint protectors of like wood.

Be sure to check out the video below for the best images.

Butt Length: 30 3/8″ with bumper (oversize by a couple inches)

Butt Weight: 15.4 oz. (drilled and tapped for 1 oz weight bolt. Mention if you’d like one installed.)

Shaft: Action winner chooses shaft wood from 10 hardwood species (below). I’ll build the matching shaft to your specs (with a large decorative wormy spalted oak ring above the collar) and ship in a few days.

Shafts typically weigh 3-4.5 oz, depending on species, cue will end up 18.5 – 20 without bolt.

I built this cue specifically to get some of my all alltime favorite blue into another stick. It’s my alltime favorite because the blue seems three dimensional. Birch — a certain species of spalted Birch at a certain level of decay — you have to figure out how to spot the wood — produces depth of color like nothing I’ve seen before.

Deep, deep, blues woven together, some dropping down into blackness and others shading toward white. The combined effect is dizzying to this wood grain fanatic.

I combined what I had left of my special blue birch with some of the rowdiest maple burl from Alpaca Luke’s, ran a hickory-tenoned-into-hard-maple core through it, and the cue made me think of a fruit drink. She’s been hanging in the shop eight months.

It’s time to finish your cue.

    Picture:

You walk into a pool hall and spot a woman clearing racks with What She’s Having in hand. Your mouth is dry. Where’s the poolkeep? You want to look — but can’t draw your gaze from the table.

Light catches the rose burl under her fingertips and as she bends at the hips and reaches across the table to bridge, that damn blue is so blue it challenges quantum mechanics and the very meaning of blue. Throw away the palette and start over, fellas. We found a new color. Wake Einstein. The president. Somebody.

    This one changes everything.

You look side to side and now there’s six of you, just watching. Shoulders rounded. Arms hanging. Jaws gapped and faces so confused it’s like they markered black scribbles on their foreheads. One guy drops his cue and nobody looks when it smacks the plank floor.

Ah! The poolkeep! He’s been standing beside you watching from the beginning.

You dry swallow and clear your throat. Quiet, so you don’t rouse the others you say, “I’ll have… what she’s having.”

Comes with a radial pin, 2 joint protectors, and your choice of 1 hardwood shaft, made with a fancy ring above of the collar.

Shafts will weigh about 3 to 4.5 oz, depending on the density of the wood. Cherry, walnut, sassafras are the lightest. Purple heart, hickory, oak, are the heaviest.
