Stick 13 gets a filler coat
Most of the epoxy will come back off. This is just to fill holes so I can sand to a uniform surface. But it does show off how stunning the colors on the final stick will be…

This is a stylin’ 26 incher. Stick will be 52 inches, just the splash of color you need to get your mind off being torqued about playing in a shine hole that puts the table too close to the wall.
Black Cherry Blue… kinda has a ring to it. Like Secretariat has a ring. Or Muhammed Ali. A stick that will make your opponent take stock of his game. I took the video while the epoxy was very wet. After it set up a bit more, I worked it back into the pores better. Eventually […]
The blue wood is maple, with dye added to the stabilizing resin. The adjacent wood is black cherry with significant red rot. The purpose of the first coat of epoxy is to fill the holes that remain after the stabilizing resin did its best to restore physical integrity to the red rot. Keep in mind […]
Yeah, the stick is glued… but look at this eye!! The stick is spalted ash with no dye. Ash is naturally porous. Like stick 19, which is purple, stick 17 has knots that look like eyes with pupils. The completed stick will feature natural pink and black pigments left by the fungi that worked over […]
The idea is to fill the pores with epoxy that augments the color scheme…. in this case, purple so heavy it looks black. Almost all comes back off. This stick will be sane back to wood, all the way up to 4000 again, then coated with 2 layers of clear epoxy, then 15 of CA.
The surface has a very precise and smooth nature punctuated by areas of porousness, where the resin and dye were thickest, but unable to fill the pore. Now sanded open, it’ll eventually be filled by epoxy. The question for this stick: I know it would have a buyer if I added more dye to the […]
Mostly ash and beech. Ash is pink. Beech, the middle. The deep purple will lighten up a lot and will go on either side of the beech. This is another 52 inch stick.
Love the black middle section. It has natural orange streaks that will look like orange lightening connecting the two sides. The orange on this one is strong, jedi.
