I love the simplicity of butt. The beech forearm and butt sleeve were barely spalted beech. Thus when I stabilized the wood, only the punky stuff accepted resin, and the faint green dye I added. So you get the gorgeous gold of beech with all the tiny flecking in place, along with some of the more interesting contrasts created with the green dye. Simple and elegant, along with the rings. But for raw eye grabbing beauty, the black cherry red rot handle and rings carry the burden. Black cherry red rot forms in the centers of most mature black cherry trees in my area. I don’t know if that happens elsewhere. Regardless, the rot deepens the color of the red into a red brown, and the most decayed sections end up looking burnt red brown. I added green mica to the CA glue I used to fill the surface gaps in the stabilized wood. This is a longer, heavier butt than “normal.” With an equal sized shaft, the cue would be 61 1/4″ instead of standard 58″. You’ll also notice the butt is big in your hand. 1.275″ And a heavy 16.2 oz. Add a weight bolt and a purple heart shaft and you have a break monster. Then add a purple heart break handle and extension and carbon fiber shaft, you have a swiss army cue like none ever created on planet Earth til now.One of you Characters deserves Good Old Days. 😉Woods Used: Black cherry red rot, beech. (All spalted and stabilized)

A word about shafts:
I build shafts out of ten species and carbon fiber. My advice is this: if you have a shaft you love to use, buy this butt to match that shaft. If you’ve heard of a famous shaft that you’d like to try, buy that shaft to match this butt.
However, if you’re into the art of it and want to have fun, try something new, and make your Character Cue fully badass, consider one of my ten species or carbon fiber with a like-wood decorative ring.
