I don’t like kicking myself in the behind but to be honest, every now and then it happens, and I turn around and I see I was right to do it, so I don’t say anything else about it.

I redid the joint ends on all my sticks in progress. My initial plan for finishing the joints was built out of what I learned on a couple test-sticks, but the bottom line is, the grade wasn’t good enough. So I went back to the lathe and turned the joint a little thinner so it can be a bed for a pool of epoxy (a few thousandths thick).
