Electric blue spalted/stabilized maple from Alpaca Luke’s. A true friend. Thoze zig zaggy frizzle lines evidence the boundaries of different strains of whatever was eating the wood. They’re fun to look at. Maybe imagine what it would be like being in there, fighting fungus wars in the timber. Trench warfare battle lines. Patton on one side and maybe Rommel on the other. Driving tanks over trenches. They always fight the last war! Ha ha! That’s Patton screaming. Anyhow you get to see it right there in the pool cue! Figured, spalted/stabilized black walnut rings between maple burl love handles. Stabilized walnut is denser than unstabilized–this matters to the hit. Walnut and beech dyed orange slot rings set between brass. Matched theme extension.

Why the extended war metaphor? I started writing about the butt with the real 1985 Carrie in mind and heard, Dude — you’re married! You can’t say that!

I’m Clayton Lindemuth, gritlit author and cue builder. My Character Cues are crafted from spalted Pennsylvania hardwoods, live edge, and burl from the woods around me. I process and stabilize, slow dry, and build cues the old school way. Not in a hurry. Ain’t setting records. Work day and night and build less than 50 a year.

Cuemaking is my divine charge and my goal is always to showcase God’s creativity and way. I’m proud of these sticks not because of my part, but because their beauty is palpable — it baffles me.
