Length:  Butt is 29 5/8 with bumper. It will look good with a 29″ or 30″ shaft, making length 58 5/8″ or 59 5/8″.

Weight: Butt alone is 16.6 ounces. With a maple shaft, it’s 20.4 ounces. With a carbon fiber shaft, it’s 19.9.

Tip Diameter: Carbon: 12.5 mm; Maple 13.

*The stunning grain patterns and markings you see come from the wood being spalted, which means, rotten. Rotten wood is weak and unsuitable for building pool cues. But spalted wood that has been stabilized is another matter. Stabilized wood has been dried, placed in a vacuum, impregnated with resin, and cured in an oven until the resin hardens. The resulting wood is strong and durable enough to easily provide the strength required for a cue.

The wood comes from the woods around me in western PA.

Welcome to Character Cues!

I’m Clayton Lindemuth, gritlit author and cue builder. My Character Cues are crafted from spalted Pennsylvania hardwoods, live edge, and burl from the woods around me. I process and stabilize, slow dry, and build cues the old school way. Not in a hurry. Ain’t setting records. Work day and night and build less than 50 a year.
